Expected skills

Test marking

Two examiners assess your performance:

  • One is present with you, conducts the interview and records your performance
  • The other listens to the recording for additional assessment

Assessment criteria:

  • Linguistic level: grammar, syntax, vocabulary range and precision, pronunciation
  • Ease of interaction and coherence of argumentation
  • Ability to adapt to varied communication contexts

5 tips for succeeding in the oral expression test

  • Practice regularly on different topics
  • Pay attention to your pronunciation: speak clearly and distinctly
  • Structure your ideas with logical connectors
  • Remain spontaneous: avoid reciting memorised text
  • Manage your time well: develop each idea without dwelling on it too long

Oral expression test – Task 2

Document for the candidate:

I am your neighbour. I am a piano teacher and I give lessons at a music school in our district.
You are interested. You ask me questions about the music school where I work (lessons, fees, opening hours, etc.).

Instructions:

  • This part of the test lasts 5 minutes 30 seconds
  • You have 2 minutes to prepare the task. You may take brief notes
  • You must not write on the task sheet, only on the rough paper
  • In 2 minutes we will begin the interview
  • You must ask me questions to obtain information
  • You speak first
  • You conduct the conversation
  • The interview must last 3 minutes 30 seconds
  • You may ask for further details or request that information be repeated

Expression orale - F.A.Q

The speaking component takes place face to face with an examiner, consists of 3 exercises, and lasts approximately 12 minutes.
It is important to master a few key question categories: price, timetable, location, and purpose of a document.
