Expected competencies
During the written comprehension test of TEF Canada, you will be required to:
- Identify general and specific information in a variety of texts (articles, emails, advertisements, administrative documents, etc.);
- Understand the overall meaning and author's intention (to inform, argue, persuade, etc.);
- Analyse the structure and cohesion of a text (connectors, logical progression);
- Deduce the meaning of words or expressions in context, taking into account vocabulary specific to Canada.
Test marking
The written comprehension test of TEF Canada is automatically marked by a computerised system, ensuring rapid and objective evaluation of answers.
Human intervention only occurs if an ambiguity is detected on the answer sheet.
The marking takes into account the difficulty of the questions in order to calculate a final score that reliably reflects the candidate's level of reading comprehension.
